Position Overview
Bronson Methodist Hospital and Bronson Battle Creek are hiring full-time Respiratory Therapists for day and night shifts. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will provide high-quality cardiopulmonary care, support clinical teams, and serve as a resource for advanced respiratory therapies.

- Deliver age-appropriate respiratory care based on provider orders, protocols, and patient needs
- Evaluate and interpret blood gases (invasive and non-invasive) and recommend therapy adjustments
- Manage ventilator settings and communicate recommendations to providers and nursing staff
- Perform oxygen therapy, airway management, suctioning, and sample collection
- Assist with intubations, bronchoscopies, extubations, and emergency response (“Code Blue”)
- Provide patient and family education related to respiratory care
- Conduct pulmonary function testing, EKGs, pulse oximetry, end-tidal COâ monitoring, and related diagnostics
- Maintain and clean respiratory equipment to ensure readiness
- Support patient transport and safe movement throughout the hospital
- Participate in quality improvement, education, and departmental initiatives
- Mentor and precept respiratory therapy students as assigned
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Current Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan
- RRT credential required within 1 year of hire (for those hired after 2004)
- BLS required within 3 months; ACLS, PALS, and NRP required within 1 year (site-specific)
- Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (certificate, diploma, or AS) plus 5 years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Occasional kneeling, crouching, and rapid movement during emergencies
- High attention to detail with frequent deadlines
- Regular interaction with providers, nurses, ancillary staff, patients, and families

- Maintain accurate documentation, charges, and shift reports
- Participate in continuing education, in-services, and performance improvement initiatives
- Adapt to census changes, work overtime when needed, and support departmental staffing needs
