Job Summary:
St. Joseph Health System is looking for dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapists to join our team. The Respiratory Therapist provides evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis.
- Implements and monitors patient care plan. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition. Performs advanced respiratory care modalities.
- Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
- Educates the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.
- Implements, monitors and adjust invasive and noninvasive ventilation as needed
- Performs cardiac monitoring and diagnostic testing (EKG, holter monitoring). Must have knowledge of basic EKG rhythm and abnormal EKG patters noting patient symptoms and notifying appropriate personnel
- Responsible for the direct/indirect supervision of respiratory technicians with core and advanced skills and supervision training of respiratory students
- Performs and evaluates Arterial/Capillary/Cord Blood Gases
Required Credential(s):
- Advanced Life Support obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
- One or more of the following:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Michigan Board of Respiratory Care obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
2 Year College Degree
- Associate degree is required; bachelor degree preferred Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program and Previous clinical experience preferred.
